Robert Sherman Obituary

Obituary
Robert “Bob” Sherman, of Boca Raton, FL., passed away on January 14, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of devotion to family, community, and entrepreneurial success. A man of boundless energy, vision, unbridled intellectual curiosity, and an obsession with detail, Bob lived a full life defined by hard work, love of family, loyalty, and enduring relationships.
Born and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Bob was a proud Penn State alumnus and an especially proud member of Penn State’s Skull & Bones Society. Early in his career, he worked in public accounting and life insurance sales before obtaining his real estate license and discovering his true calling in homebuilding and real estate development.
In 1959, Bob co-founded Sherman & Walton, Inc., which developed numerous residential communities and built several thousand single-family homes and rental apartments throughout Lancaster County. Many long-time employees and subcontractors became like extended family to Bob and his beloved wife, Tobi. He later founded Krown Kitchens, a custom cabinetmaking business in Leola, where his late father, Samuel Sherman, proudly served as Corporate Secretary, and subsequently co-founded Woods Edge Builders in Manor Township.
Bob was honored as Builder of the Year by the Home Builders Association of Lancaster County. He was deeply committed to Jewish communal life, serving as an officer of Congregation Degel Israel and holding memberships at Temple Shaari Shamayim and Temple Beth El of Lancaster, as well as Temple Beth El of Boca Raton.
Bob often measured success not by accolades but by the goals he set and fulfilled. His ambitions were steadfast: to build a loving family with Tobi; to support his family comfortably; to ensure his parents a secure retirement after years of operating a corner grocery store; to provide his children and grandchildren the opportunity to attend college; and to help them build homes of their own, always offering eager guidance and support. In these pursuits, Bob felt deeply fulfilled.
Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years, Tobi (Folbaum) Sherman, and by his parents, Samuel and Kitty Sherman. He is survived by his children, Stephen Sherman (Susan) of Bethesda, Maryland; Michael Sherman (Jill) of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; and Judi Levine (Marc) of Woodbury, New York; and by his cherished grandchildren Samantha, Brett, Ryan, Alex, Rebecca, Chloe, Dylan, and Jack.
A lifelong car enthusiast, Bob owned more than 60 cars throughout his lifetime. A night owl by nature, he and Tobi were well known for late-night singles and doubles matches at Lancaster’s Olde Hickory Racquet Club. Bob was equally known for calling his adult children well into the evening—often after 10 p.m., and sometimes after 11—to share a thought or story that couldn’t wait until morning, or just as often to ask for help figuring out something on his computer.
In later years, Bob took up golf and formed many close friendships at St. Andrews Country Club in Boca Raton.
Bob will be remembered for his entrepreneurial spirit, generosity, loyalty, and deep devotion to family and community.
Entombment will be alongside his beloved wife, Tobi, at the Beth El Mausoleum in Boca Raton, Fl.
