Obituary

Born on July 26, 1945, in Sacramento, CA, Lorrie was the son of the late Louis and Edith Shafer. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland.  

He proudly served in the United States Army and then became a real estate developer in Florida. 

Lorrie is survived by his wife of 53 years, Roberta (Friedman) Shafer; his children, Heather, Michael (Robin), Jason (Whitney), and Stephanie; his grandchildren, Hannah, Noah, Esme, and Ava; his sister, Betsy Shafer Costantino (Richard), and brother, Jeffrey (Anne).

Lorrie possessed an extraordinary palate and an unmatched appreciation for fine dining and luxurious hotels. His recollections of culinary experiences—each dish, each setting- were nothing short of astounding.

He will be remembered for his integrity, his wit, his contagious laugh, and the quiet strength with which he approached life. 

His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
