Simone Croft Obituary

Simone Croft, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2024 at the age of 90.

Simone was born on October 10, 1933, in Casablanca, Morocco to Yemna and David Ifergan. As a young girl, she learned how to sew and helped support her mother after her father passed away. She became a skilled seamstress working for Christian Dior and other well-known fashion houses. On July 4, 1955, she met Richard Croft at the beach, and they were immediately attracted to each other. They went out together that night and saw each other the next day. After he left for the base where he was stationed in the Air Force, they continued to correspond including after he returned to his base in the United States. Eventually, he asked her to marry him and on November 2, 1957, after he returned to Morocco, they were married in Casablanca. After that, they moved to East St. Louis, Illinois to start their new life together.

She was always very proud of the fact that she spoke four languages fluently, English, French, Spanish, and Arabic.

Throughout her life Simone touched the lives of many with her kindness, love, and caring. She cherishes her family above all others and leaves behind beautiful memories that will be cherished forever. She will be sadly missed.

Simone is survived by her husband, Richard Croft, her brother Jacob Ifergan, her daughters, Carolyn Croft and Michelle Dreyer, her grandson Brandon Lyons, her granddaughters Danielle Nicole Stone, Nicole Stillwell, Olivia Dreyer, and Lauren Chatwell, her great-grandchildren Satori Lyons, David Lyons, and Jacob Lyons, her cherished friends Solange and Emile Wizman and other cherished relatives. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Ashlee Simone Lyons.
