Marilyn Rhoda Charnas Obituary

Marilyn Rhoda Charnas, loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2024, at the age of 78.

Marilyn was born on February 12, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York, to Henry Schifrin and Gladys Green. As a child, she lived with her mother and stepfather, Herbert Green in North Miami Beach, where she spent her formative years honing her spunk, independent spirit, and inner strength. She was an avid fan of the arts, her hometown sports teams, and traveling to new places with family and friends. She also took great pleasure in surrounding herself with the music of her generation.

Later in life, Marilyn settled in Louisville, KY, where she raised her two children and became an active member of the community, working for many years at the Jewish Federation.  In her later years, Marilyn returned to South Florida to be close to her family, where she focused her time and attention on her loved ones.

Throughout her life’s journey, Marilyn touched the lives of many with her kindness, humor, grace, and love. She cherished her family above all else and leaves behind beautiful memories that will be treasured forever.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter Heather Charnas Horwitz, her son Marc Charnas (Shannon), her sister Fern Green-Lowe (Marc), her grandson Hayden Horwitz, and many other cherished relatives and friends.
