Allen Howard Holt died on March 13, 2021, at Sinai Residences in Boca Raton, Florida. He was 97 years old. He was a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Fleurene, for 72 years. He was father to six children (David, Kenneth, Stuart, Nancy, Sally, and Claire), grandfather of 14, and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio. He graduated from Rayen High School and attended the University of Michigan prior to joining the Army Infantry in 1942. The Army determined to send him to Syracuse University Medical School, where he met his wife also attending medical school there. He received his MD in 1948 having been inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He trained at Yale University and Washington University Hospitals. He did his fellowship in Radiology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester and obtained a Master of Science at the University of Minnesota.
After completing his fellowship, he returned to the Army as an officer and physician during the Korean War. He opened a private practice in Radiology in Youngstown and then moved to Sharon, PA where he was the Chief Radiologist at Sharon General Hospital as well as conducting a private practice for 30 years. He held numerous leadership positions in the medical community and hospital in Sharon, He retired from practice in 1999.
After retirement, he took up watercolor and oil painting and was an accomplished artist. He read extensively and was an expert in American history,
He is survived by his wife, all of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
