Norman Kowlowitz, of Boca Raton, Florida, died on September 1, 2026, at the age of 87. He was born in the Bronx, New York, on September 14, 1938, to Sol and Ruth Kowlowitz, who preceded him in death.

Norman studied at New York University and at Westchester Community College, where he earned an associate degree in engineering. He built his career in the car wash business and took particular pride in being among the first full-service operators to convert to an automated, exterior-only wash — a decision that reflected the practical, forward-looking way he approached most things. Automobiles remained a lifelong interest.

He married Barbara in 1959, and their loving marriage lasted 67 years. Norman loved living in Florida, and he often remarked that Boca West was adult camp. He played the saxophone, kept a lasting affection for doo-wop, and was a familiar figure on the paddleball court and at the card table, where he was a formidable opponent at poker, gin rummy, and billiards. He cooked an eggplant parmesan his family still talks about. Above all, he was known for a dry, one-line wit that put people at ease almost immediately, and for the plain pleasure he took in ordinary days — good weather, something on television, and his grandchildren nearby.

Norman is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; his adored children, Edward, Meryl, and Vicki; his cherished grandchildren, Allison, Jordan, Haley, and Jack; and his beloved brothers, Larry and Howard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sol and Ruth Kowlowitz, and by his cherished grandson, Russell.
