Richard Brock Obituary

Obituary

Richard Brock was born in 1927 in Brooklyn, NY to Isaac and Ruth Brock.

As a child, he attended yeshiva, followed by Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan. Richard served in the US Navy during World War II, from which he was honorably discharged.

He received multiple degrees from New York University, focusing on tax law.  He also received his juris doctorate from NYU and was a CPA.

Richard married Mildred (Millie) in 1951, and they raised their family in Cedarhurst, NY.

Although Richard’s formal education was in accounting and law, and he certainly used that knowledge in his business, his passion was in real estate investment, in which he was extraordinarily successful.

Another passion of Richard’s dating back to the 1970s was police-related charitable support, for which he was a generous donor to many organizations, mostly in the metro NY area.

Richard Brock had a brilliant mind and was a deep thinker, curious about everything around him, from mathematics to the stock market to science to history to current events, and was a voracious reader of almost every publication out there.  He enjoyed attending “Scuttlebutt” (men’s club) luncheons on Thursdays to keep his mind sharp in his later years.

Richard Brock was the beloved brother of Dorothy Blau, father (and business partner) of George (Lori) Brock, father of Joanne (Frank) Romano, grandfather of Erin (Matt) Lesser, Kayla Brock (Jordan) and Elizabeth Romano, great-grandfather of Riley and Jillian Lesser.  He was predeceased by his dear wife Milie, his brother Al, his daughter Abby, and his daughter-in-law Jill. His devoted caregiver Maud Butler and many other family members and friends will miss him deeply.
