Obituary

Susan E. Flaks (Moskovitz) passed away peacefully in her home on May 28, 2023.  Susan was born on July 4, 1937, in Philadelphia, PA, to Albert and Sally Steinberg. Susan married Alvin Moskovitz in 1956, and they lived in Philadelphia, PA, where they had 4 children, Robert Moskovitz, Jeffrey Moskovitz, Richard Moskovitz, and Melissa Moskovitz (nka Zrelack). After 38 years of marriage, Alvin passed away suddenly in 1994.

Susan was a retired legal assistant and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed mahjong, music, and dancing. In 1998 she married Warren Flaks, with whom she shared these interests.  In 2001, she and Warren moved to Las Vegas, NV, where they lived until Warren’s passing in 2016. Susan then moved to South Florida and lived with her daughter for her remaining years. 

Susan is predeceased by her son, Richard, and is survived by Robert, Jeffrey, and Melissa. She is also survived by her two brothers, Gerald Steinberg and Norman Steinberg, grandsons, Jared Moskovitz, Jordan Moskovitz, and Alex Moskovitz, granddaughter, Tori  Malinowski (fka Moskovitz), and great-granddaughters, Addison Moskovitz and Astrid Malinowski.

Memorial Contributions

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Susan’s memory to:

Temple Beth El Memorial Gardens or a charity of choice.

Service

A graveside service was held on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at 11:00 am at Temple Beth El Memorial Gardens, 4900 Griffin Road, Davie, FL 33314.

Shiva will take place at Melissa’s home immediately following the service, at which time food and beverages will be served.
