Jack L. Sholl

Obituary

Jack L Sholl of West Palm Beach, FL passed on February 1, 2023. He was born in Harrisburg, PA, the son of the late Benjamin Sholl and Goldye Grant Sholl.

Educated at Penn State University, he had successful careers as a journalist for the Associated Press and as a public relations and HR executive for pharmaceutical companies Warner-Lambert and ICN Pharmaceuticals. In this latter role, he helped oversee the privatization of pharmaceutical companies throughout Eastern Europe in the years following the collapse of the Soviet Union. He also served as a senior communications consultant for former Yugoslavian Prime Minister Milan Panic.

A lifelong bibliophile, reader, and writer, he authored 12 novels and screenplays during his later years, including “Stoner Pizza (Or American Hikikomori)’1 and “The Words,” about the lifelong stormy romance between Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir.

He was a devoted husband to the late Geraldine Buick Sholl, a kind and supportive father to his son Jason Sholl and daughter-in-law Mary Sholl, and a generous and loving grandfather to his grandchildren Sienna and Soren Sholl.

A man of deep learning and many diverse interests over the course of his life- from fly fishing to George Washington to Asian culinary techniques was always willing to share his wisdom and help others in whatever ways he could.

Blessed with a sense of humor and abundant wit, he could be counted on for just the right quip to lighten the mood on occasions both joyful and sad. He will be deeply, deeply missed.
