Norman Melnick

Obituary

Norman was born in Brooklyn, NY. At age 10 he began working for his uncle in the pen-making business and began to experiment with innovations of his own.

He met Libby while selling ice cream on the beach. He went on to pursue a degree in chemical engineering at Brooklyn Polytech He made ink on the stove for extra income. Later he developed

an ink plant and combined it with a molding plant which became a zip mark corporation and Chemoline industries. In 1984 he started Pentech Corp. They designed and sold writing instruments and were noted as one of the fastest-growing companies in the US.

His family was most important to him. He welcomed his grandchildren every weekend on Long Beach Island. He taught them how to play poker and took them to jai alai He also gave them his words of wisdom. Norman loved Libby so much and whoever came to their home heard him talk about her.

They loved watching the Yankees together and entertaining the family at the beach house.

After retirement, he lived in Delray Beach and West Palm Beach.
