Obituary

Carol (Edelman) Sherman grew up in a very warm, supportive, and nurturing home in Plainview, Long Island. Her Dad Melvin Edelman, who lived to 97, was a CPA who owned his own firm in Manhattan. Her Mom, Jean (Riback) Edelman still with us at age 96, was an elementary school teacher. Her sister, Lynn Edelman is an attorney, who built her own beautiful family with her wife, Barbra Kavanaugh.

Carol graduated from Cornell University with a BA in 1977 and earned a Master of Public Health at the University of California, Berkeley in 1979. She was a Registered Dietitian and a Certified Diabetes Educator who ran a private practice for over 40 years, treating 1000s of patients with diabetes, obesity, and addiction disorders.

Carol would tell you that her greatest accomplishments in life are her 43-year marriage to Alan and the raising of their 2 children Dr. Evan Sherman and Allison (Sherman) Friedmann. The 3 of them, and her two very young granddaughters, Noa and Chloe Friedmann, have been the loves of her life. She left us too early, after heroically fighting a 21-month battle with pancreatic cancer.
