Edward M. Barr
Ed Barr was born in Paterson, New Jersey, in 1947, the son of Lena and Harry Barr. He went to Eastside High School, where he competed successfully on the swim team. After graduating in 1965, Ed joined the Air Force, where he served for four years at Pease Air Force base in New Hampshire as Manager of Supply.
Ed attended Southern New Hampshire University where he earned his Bachelor of Business Science. He started working at the old Grand Union Supermarket Corporation, starting out in the store, but management soon moved him to Corporate, where he was eventually promoted to Director of Benefits. He retired in 2000 and moved to Florida.
Ed met Judith Alster of Delray Beach in 2004; they married in 2008 and had 14 happy years together. He is survived by her and by two daughters, Lisa Barr Garofalo of Pompton Plains, New Jersey, and Janice DiFlorio of Jacksonville, as well as two grandchildren, Braden and Lia.
Ed passed away in Delray Beach, Florida, after a long illness. Everyone who knew Ed was saddened by his death. He truly brought warmth and joy wherever he went.
