“You Shall Love Your Neighbor As Yourself” (Leviticus 19:18)
Can They Lose My Loved One?
That was my wife’s fear when her mother passed away in Florida. We needed to transport her up north for burial and we worried that she would get “lost”.
My wife was sure that if the airline could lose her luggage, then they could do the same with her mother. The only thing that caused my wife’s anxiety to subside was seeing her mother at the funeral home, ready for burial.
As it turns out, my wife’s fear was not unreasonable or irrational.
Believe it or not, the remains of our loved ones do get misplaced. It happened when they miss a connecting flight or get picked up by the wrong funeral home. And these scenarios occur with some frequency.
How does this happen? It’s actually pretty simple.
Mistakes Happen
When our loved ones are transported by a common air carrier, a shipping container is used. It’s addressed and labeled for pickup by a receiving funeral home at an airport terminus. Although everyone’s best efforts are involved, mistakes do happen. At times, the shipping funeral home makes a labeling error. The airline could be a fault for relabeling the container incorrectly. Connections get missed, the receiving funeral home pick-ups the wrong remains, or doesn’t make it to the airport at all. If a flight schedule has many connections, the chance of error increases dramatically.
Having experienced the fear of “losing Mom” firsthand, Kronish Funeral Services decided that none of our families would ever need to be worried about this scenario ever happening.
We have researched the dilemma and found a solution. Through the use of modern technology, we mitigate the risk of a transportation error happening.
The Shipping Solution For Piece of Mind
Instead of leaving transportation logistics to chance, Kronish Funeral Services utilizes a GPS transmitter. We place one in every shipping container used. We can then locate the container while it’s still on the ground. The GPS transmitter gives us details about which airport and which funeral home received the container. It can also notify us if the container waited an unreasonable amount of time for pick up by the receiving funeral home.
If a container gets misplaced, Kronish Funeral Services will make contact with the appropriate party (airline, logistics provider, or receiving funeral home) to resolve the issue.
Kronish Funeral Services does not charge extra for use of the GPS technology. We use this for all the families we serve because it’s the “right thing to do”. We want each of our customers to expect that we will do everything within our power to avoid errors.
Kronish Funeral Services’ culture is to “Love Our Neighbors As Ourselves” (Leviticus 19:18) and act with conscience and consideration. The use of GPS technology is an example of The Kronish Difference. This and other reasons are why Kronish Funeral is the provider of choice for all South Florida families.
